till we meet again - JFK
Ever since we arrived in kangaroo land, there was always one person who helped us out, whether it be living in Aussie itself, or finding our way in the aviation world. That person is none other than Johan Farid Khairuddin.A little about JFK. He worked on-air for Malaysia's #1 Hit Station - hitz.FM and Malaysia's Premier Teen Radio Station - Xfresh FM. He's also not a stranger in the visual media world. He hosted various programmes on Astro but the most prominent would be TV3's Reality TV/Entertainment Programme "Mentor". JFK also sings. He sang with the R&B Group V.E. and spends his free time composing and producing music for some of Malaysia's local big shots like Sheila Majid, Anuar Zain, Kaer AF2, Dayang Nurfaizah, etc.
JFK, being the reason why we were able to get out of the country and step foot into foreign land for aviation training, shared with us many things - things we need and sometimes need not know, but overall, things we are grateful to know of - things from how to use the bus, how to talk like an aussie, aviation tricks, theory, and the list goes on.
Soon, there came the time where he graduated. The first to hold a commercial pilot licence and an instrument rating among us and it was time for him to head home to the land of mamaks and work for AirAsia.
Being typical Malaysians, we'd host/organize/plan/have a farewell dinner/party/gathering. This was pretty much the first time all of us, the two batches, met up for dinner at a restaurant. Before this, it was always experimenting on our cooking skills at home where every meal could be our last.
Capt. Hans, head of AirAsia X's Flight Operations, who came down to personally fly JFK back to Malaysia also joined us for dinner, along with some of JFK's friends.
All dressed up waiting for a bus to a restaurant. So potong steam.
Thank you JFK for everything. A good housemate, a good cook, a good teacher, an awesome pilot. All the best in the future and hope to fly with you soon someday.
